HOW TO GROW BEAUTIFUL ROSE GARDENS ?
Just imagine you are having beautiful villa with a garden allaround. In one of the
corner,you are trying to grow roses ,but without any good result.
I think if we follow few tips given below,your dream of having beautiful rose
garden may come true.
· Soil – soil should be well drained which has Ph value 6.0 to 6.5
· Planting the roses - The best time to plant the bare root roses is late
winter or early spring. These bare root roses should be planted
immediately after purchasing.
· Spacing of plants - Generally plant the roots 2’-0” apart but if you are
planting small or miniature roses then this distance should be around 10
to 20 inches .
· Location of your rose garden—this is very important. Take care these
plants should get minimum 6 to 7 hours sunlight and because its foliage
get dries early and chances of any disease is less.Please note rose should
not be planted in the shadow of large trees or shrubs,so that it will not
deprive them the necessary sunlight.
· Planting—for planting roses,planting holes should be atleast 2’-0”wide
and 2’-0” deep .so that its roots get sufficient room to grow.At the time of
planting super phosphate to be added to enrich the soil,which will help to
grow the strong roots.
· Watering—watering is very important for better growth .If roses gets the
sufficient amount of water,be sure that the plants will grow better with
large blooms.right amount of water helps to have more brighter colours
and last longer.
There are various ways of watering the roses.
1. overhead sprinkling- It is very effective when it is done in the morning, so
that foliage gets dry before night and chances of any disease is less.
2. drip irrigation - to be installed permanentally in the garden.Advantage is
that it uses less quantity of water than overhead sprinlilng. If we have to
water only few plants,then it is better to water them by hand with hose pipe
or watering can.
Plants should receive min.1” of water per week.Once in a week deep
watering is essential for deep roots and it gives good result.If weather is very
hot or soil is very sandy then water the plants more number of times.
· Using fertilizers – use approved rose fertilizer available in the market.Use
these fertilizer atleast twice in a year.

To get large flowers,use the fertilizer once in a month in growing season.

Keep your rose garden always clean without any weeds. They suck the water
And food meant for rose plants and harbour the insects and diseases .To avoid
the weeds,you can apply herbicides to rose beds in springs.Do not keep faded
flowers .Removal of faded flowers stimulates new growth and faster
reblooming.
Different Types Of Roses
Tree roses- These are always main attraction of any rose garden or focal point
of your garden.A rose to be grafted on top of a stem to create a tree rose.To
encourage straight rose stem,place any support or stake next to the trunk and
fasten it with ties.To be focal point of the garden,it should have contrasting
background.
Small or miniature roses- these are small in all respect-leaves ,plants ,flowers.It
may grow few inches tall or one feet high plant. These should be wartered daily
and fertilise two times in a month.These can decorate porch or steps with pots
of roses.
Climbers- Fence ,walls etc. can be adorned beauty of climbing roses.If properly
supported,these climbers can grow upto some height.
When temperature is below freezing ,proper care to be taken. It is better to wrap
them with any jute fabric.
